RT-PCR test is the gold standard test for detecting SARS-COV2 virus genetic material in mucous membranes of upper respiratory tract.

RT-PCR test is the gold standard test for detecting SARS-CoV-2 virus genetic material in mucous membranes of upper respiratory tract. RT-PCR device amplifies genetic material collected in a number of 46 cycles (exponential amplification cycles) being thus able to detect the presence of virus even in very small quantities (superior sensitivity to other detection tests - over 99%). Collection is of nasal and oropharyngeal exudate type.

Note *: German Diagnose laboratory analyzes RT-PCR samples using QuantStudio ™ 5 Real-Time RT-PCR System (Thermofisher), one of the most sensitive devices in the world, used in forensic medicine, thus guaranteeing an accurate result.

  • Recommended test for: symptomatic patients, asymptomatic patients (screening), asymptomatic patients direct contact with Covid-19 infected patients, travel, hospitalization.
  • Advantages: test with the highest diagnostic accuracy, able to detect the presence of virus 4-5 days before the onset of symptoms **; analysis bulletin accredited by Ministry of Health (laboratory on the MS list, QR code), accepted at any border.
  • Disadvantages: long waiting time for result NOTE *: due to improved flows (dedicated testing centers, scheduled transport, our own German Diagnose laboratory dedicated to emergency processing of samples collected in Complet Medical centers) we managed to reduce delivery time of RT-PCR at a maximum of 6-12 working hours *.
  • **One modelling study based primarily on epidemiological data estimated that 44% of transmission could occur before first symptoms present (starting from 2,3 days before symptom onset).
